I have two servers one on the IP 192.168.5.1 and another on 192.168.6.101, I have a VPN connecting the two over a WAN (hence they are both using local ranges despite being on different sites). I setup my Root node with AD just fine it is the server 192.168.5.1, now I'm trying to install AD onto my other computer on 192.168.6.101.

The server can see the computer through Explorer on 192.168.5.1 and I can see file shares and connect to them. I can also ping the server and talk to them. This is dealt with via the VPN so that all traffic is allowed

However if I try to connect to the AD domain I get the message cannot connect to the AD Domain, No Domain or No Domain Controller Present. I've tried various different things but it seems that my server on 192.168.6.101 just cannot see any AD objects on 192.168.5.1 despite beinng able to see everything else and it just will not join the AD domain

Any ideas
