Hello.

We are trying to join two servers from a remote site to our domain. There is
no domain controller at that site.

When trying to join the domain, we get the following error:

"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "mydomainname"
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely
fashion."

We have confirmed that we can ping the domain controller and dns server for
this domain. The servers show up in the Computers OU, but they have a red
X on them.

What can we do to troubleshoot/resolve this issue? We have searched
Microsoft's KB and Google exhaustively. No joy.

Thanks in advance.

Hi
Assuming that you're trying to add additional DCs check IFM install:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311078

Also check that you've the DNS properly config (pointing to the Main/DNS
Servers)

I hope that the information above helps you
