Hi,

I have a Windows Server 2003 system which is the DC. When I try to add a
new user I get the error message from Active Directory, "An error occured.
Contact your system administrator".

If I try to reset the password on an existing account I get the message:
"Windows cannot complete the password change for ... because: The system
cannot find the file specified."

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Hello Jerry,

Is it normal 2003 server or SBS? What additional software is installed? Check
the event viewer for errors and post them here. Is it the only DC in the
domain? Are there any errors problems occur before this happens?

Best regards

I am also having this issue, just seemed to happen recently.
Have checked the logs and there is no major sign of problem there.
Any further information on the issue would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hello Anthony,

Please do not answer to a running posting. Describe your own situation with
error message in a new post. Describe your environment with infos about the
servers, operating system and sites. Additional post an unedited ipconfig
/all from all DC/DNS servers.

Best regards

Sounds to me like your RID master can not be contacted and you ran out
of SIDs
