Hi John,

What you see in AD Users and Computers is not the Display Name but actually
the RDN or Relative Distinguished Name of the user. The Display Name
attribute that you are updating shows up in the users start menu when they
log on to XP (with the XP style start menu) and it will also show up on
outgoing emails sent through exchange.

If you want to change the RDN so that you see the user differently in AD
Users and Computers, right click the user and click rename. This will allow
you to modify the RDN

In Active Directory Users and Computer, press Add/Remove Columns on The View Menu.
Select Display Name in the Available Column and Add it.
Move the Move Up or Move Down buttons to arrange the columns.
The Name attribute (CN=) is what is displayed in the Name column.
