When I attempt to run GPUpdate I receive the following error:
"User Policy Refresh has not completed in the expected time. Exiting..."

even worse, when I attempt to logon to the workstation it hangs while
processing the user profile settings. Any suggestions? Help!

Take a hard look at your DNS settings on the workstation in question. Issues
in apply group policies and logon usually stem from incorrect DNS
configuration the machine in question.

Thanks for the response...turns out (2 hours later) the office notifies me
that the WAN is undergoing a lot of latency. Which leads me to the question,
why wouldn't this workstation or any other workstation on this segment load
GP under the limited set of policies? I know that GP attempts to ping the DC
and if the threshold is met it loads with a limited set of policies (IPSec,
Security, etc). Why would this occur in this instance? Even though the
GPUpdate command would eventually timeout, the WorkStation wouldn't time out
(gave it an hour, and still didn't log in)

Thanks!
